Plans Approved for Diptford Primary School, Devon
Bailey Partnership has been appointed to provide Town Planning, Building Surveying and Project Management services, for the erection of a new, two classroom block with a connecting link building to Diptford Primary School, replacing its existing Devon Lady classrooms on site.
The classrooms within the site were in a state of disrepair, and no longer suitable to accommodate lessons for the pupils enrolled at the school. Both units were deemed no longer usable by the school. One of the units had experienced substantial storm damage and the remaining unit also showed signs of structural deterioration.
We are working to a tight timeframe to ensure the school can achieve the programme and deliver the new classrooms as soon as possible.
This project will ensure that Diptford Primary School can continue to maintain the school’s existing Published Administration Number , through the provision of fit for purpose school facilities.
Development is within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and in close proximity to heritage assets – the proposed materials have been selected to ensure that the development is unobtrusive within the AONB, utilising raw materials which will weather naturally and harmonise with the local landscape.
Our trusted Building Surveying and Project Management teams competitively tendered the works to a number of local Contractors and have been focusing procurement on ensuring the school’s tight timeframes are met to ensure the works are delivered in time for the start of the autumn term. With works having now started on site and demolition completed, the forming of foundations has now commenced and works are progressing swiftly. Importantly our team is ensuring high levels of communication with the school and its stakeholders is being maintained as we understand that awareness is key to maintaining confidence.
