University of Exeter Framework
"Transformational - people can no longer recognise parts of the department"; "How can we have such a feeling of space, when actually there are more people in any given area?" Tim Naylor, Head of Physics, University of Exeter
This large scale framework involved extensive interior and exterior refurbishment works, new builds and extensions to a range of existing university teaching and administrative buildings, with particular emphasis on interior design and landscaping to create stimulating and inviting learning environments and social spaces.
Many buildings had original features, which was sought to be involved and enhanced in the design process.
This specific phase involved extensive refurbishment works to the existing Physics and Astronomy building, including academic facilities with a new ultra-modern entrance foyer sporting subject suitable glass detailing. Careful space planning also ensured the maximisation of space utilisation and enabled additional office accommodation with minimal disruption to the live building.
