Hedge Planting for Hearts Together

Kel Chiong

Six of our colleagues traded their desks for shovels this week, volunteering at the lovely Hearts Together hospital hotel in Plymouth. Hearts Together are an independent charity, located in Plymouth, providing accommodation and support for patients, carers and relatives when they or a loved one are receiving treatment at a local medical facility.

We joined forces with SocieTree, an environmentalist company who aim to create more sustainable and greener futures with the creation of micro-forests, to plant a 20-meter hedgerow in the Hearts Together’s communal garden.

After a fascinating introduction to SocieTree’s environmental mission by Steve Warren-Brown, we eagerly rolled up our sleeves. From preparing the ground and digging, to planting the young hedges and securing them with protective fencing, the whole team got stuck in.

To top off a fantastic day, Hearts Together rewarded our efforts with a tasty treat of pasties, biscuits, and crisps. A perfect way to refuel and celebrate our contribution to a greener future!
