Fort Cumberland, Fort Brockhurst and Hurst Castle were constructed between the 16th and 19th centuries to guard Portsmouth’s naval dockyard and the Solent. The large area comprises of a mixture of fortifications, inhabited buildings, ruins and other historical structures.
