Full Planning and Listed Building Consent Approved for Residential Conversion

Bailey Partnership have secured planning permission and listed building consent for the conversion of a Grade II listed former warehouse into 6 apartments in Plymouth’s historic Barbican. The site was also within the Barbican Conservation area, adjoined another listed building and fell within Flood Zone 3.

Bailey Partnership produced detailed architectural plans which limited the amount of internal partitioning, creating an open plan layout and enabled the listed buildings original features to be retained. The plans also provide for a lightwell in the centre of the building which gained support from the Council’s Conservation Officer and Historic England.

The application was supported by a comprehensive planning and heritage statement produced by Bailey Partnership’s Chartered Town Planning team. The team also assembled and managed the wider team, including input from acoustic consultants Mach Acoustics.

After careful negotiations with the Council and Historic England namely in relation to the removal of historic mechanical hoists, Bailey Partnership secured permission for a delighted client.
