The new facility has been designed to enhance gastrointestinal endoscopy services, improving patient access, clinical efficiency, and health outcomes across the region. Supporting the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan, the development provides a modern environment for safe service delivery, workforce development, accreditation, and more efficient use of healthcare resources.

Located adjacent to Colchester Hospital, the new facility enables the separation of elective ambulatory endoscopy services from acute, inpatient, complex, and general anaesthetic procedures, supporting improved operational efficiency and patient pathways.
