Bailey Partnership is delighted to have won the prestigious RICS Refurbishment and Revitalisation Award for the South East region and is in recognition of the recently completed scheme at Empress Heights, a Fire Safety Remediation project in Southampton.

Focusing on life safety, the completed project at Empress Heights sees the culmination of our skills and expertise as a multi discipline team where we addressed façade issues, replacing combustible materials and securing funding support. Diligent financial management safeguards leaseholder interests, ensuring completion ahead of schedule and within budget. The scheme not only enhances physical safety but also improves residents’ well-being, fostering a sense of community security. Partnering with Homes England and DLUHC through the Building Safety Fund, the project has ensured compliance with current and future legislation, contributing to the sustainability of the building for future generations and communities.

The judging criteria for the Refurbishment and Revitalisation Award focused on professional excellence, teamwork, and sustainability. Competition standards were high. Projects were evaluated on recognised endorsements, surveying expertise, adherence to RICS ethics, and innovative approaches. Effective teamwork, diversity, and overcoming challenges were crucial, alongside achieving predefined goals, cost management, and client satisfaction. Emphasis was placed on sustainability principles, including carbon reduction, material reuse, social impacts, and health and well-being benefits, with a commitment to long-term community enhancement.

Speaking after the awards, Partner and Chartered Building Surveyor / Project Manager Lee Carroll said: “We are delighted that the RICS have recognised the efforts and commitment of the Empress Heights project team in successfully delivering a complex and high profile project in a truly collaborative and innovative manner.

Our team has enjoyed working with Homes England, Tribe 8 and Lawtech Group in order to make a meaningful difference to the lives of the residents and leaseholders of Empress Heights. We are committed to maintaining our work ethic and award winning quality of service unilaterally across our business.

We are very grateful to the Judges for their kind words during the presentation ceremony yesterday evening and look forward to celebrating at the grand final event!”

Delighted with the result, Managing Partner Simon Zawada expressed his gratitude to the whole project team: “A collaboration of our design and management skills and expertise alongside our client teams motivation and desire to achieve safe and sustainably built homes coupled with the contractor, Lawtech’s unerring professional approach and build quality have culminated in a successful project that has been recognised with this prestigious reward.”

As South East regional winner, the project will now be entered into the National RICS Awards in October where we hope that the project and team will prove a success and be given the recognition they deserve.
