Bailey Partnership Secures Exciting New Project with The London Borough of Merton

Bailey Partnership is delighted to announce our appointment by The London Borough of Merton to provide Multi-Disciplinary Design and Project Management Services for the redevelopment of Amenity Way Waste Transfer Station in Morden.

Amenity Way serves as the council’s primary refuse collection and waste sorting site, also utilised by the council’s waste services contractor, Veolia, as well as a number of private operators. In line with the council’s plans to ‘in-source’ its street cleansing services from April 2025, the redeveloped site will become the operational hub for this critical service.

The scope of the project includes:

– Refurbishment of the Waste Transfer Station and household waste recycling centre.
– Creation of new office and welfare facilities for street cleansing and refuse collection teams.
– Refurbishment of existing offices to support passenger transport services and site management.
– General improvement works, including enhanced security measures, hardstanding areas, and vehicle washing facilities.

Our role spans RIBA Plan of Work Stages 0 to 6, commissioned under the NEC4 Professional Services Contract. The project, valued at an estimated £10.4m including all associated fees and permissions, reflects the council’s commitment to modernising and enhancing essential infrastructure for the community.

Speaking on the award, Managing Director Simon Zawada commented: “We are delighted to have been selected by The London Borough of Merton to deliver these important works at Amenity Way. This project is a fantastic opportunity for our team to showcase our expertise in multi-disciplinary design and project management while supporting the council’s commitment to improving waste management and in-sourcing street cleansing services. We look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders to deliver sustainable, high-quality facilities that will serve the community for years to come.”

Lead Architect for the project, Steve Harrison commented: “Our team is eager to apply our architectural expertise to reimagine and modernise the site, creating functional, sustainable, and thoughtfully designed spaces. By prioritising innovative design and sustainability, we aim to deliver a facility that enhances operations and reflects the council’s forward-thinking vision.”
